Honor Fallen Israeli Soldiers & Security Forces

To commemorate Yom HaZikaron, the YIPC has joined the Yizkereim (Remember Them) project, which grants individuals the opportunity to learn about fallen IDF soldiers and security forces, and to take positive action in their merit.

Through a specially designed website, you can choose an Israeli hero to learn about, and indicate what action you will take to honor them. You can also send a message to their families.

Our Shul has selected a group of 100 soldiers/security forces to honor.

The YIPC Youth Department has chosen 3 soldiers to honor, and will be integrating opportunities to learn about them, and to do Mitzvos in their honor, over the coming weeks. We hope that the 97 remaining soldiers/security forces will be honored by the membership, and that everyone will participate in this special opportunity.

Yom Ha’Atzma’ut 5778 Scholar in Residence

February 27, 2018 / 12 Adar, 5778

Dear YIPC,

On April 19th we will celebrate Yom Ha’Atzma’ut, Israel Independence Day.  This year marks the 70th anniversary of the miraculous establishment of the modern State of Israel.   To honor this special occasion and provide a meaningful way for our community to connect with Medinat Yisrael and Torat Eretz Yisrael - the vibrant Torah learning and Jewish thought emanating from Israel - we would like to host an Israeli scholar and leader as a Scholar in Residence on the Shabbos before Yom Ha’Atzma’ut, Shabbos Parshas Shemini (April 13-14).

The Religious Zionists of America (RZA) is leading an initiative they call “70 for 70” to bring 70 scholars from Israel to America this Yom Ha’Atzma’ut.  RZA will generously support the travel costs of these scholars, but each participating shul is responsible for the remaining costs.

We are looking for people who wish join in this unique opportunity for our community to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Israel’s founding.  We are seeking sponsors to dedicate each of the shiurim and programs including: Friday Night Oneg ($360), Shabbos Morning Drasha ($250), Shabbos Afternoon shiur ($250) and Shalosh Seudos Program ($360).
Please also consider contributing as a Supporting Sponsor for $70.

To dedicate one of these programs or to join in as a Supporting Sponsor, please

Your generosity will enable us to provide an opportunity for Torah growth in a way that connects you and our community to the religious significance of the State of Israel.

You may contact me (
president@yipc.org) or Avrami Groll (education@yipc.org) with any questions.

Thank you,
Ammiel

PS: In addition to this special program, we will also share more information about our annual Yom Ha'Zikaron commemoration, Yom Ha’Atzma’ut Tefilah Chagigit and celebration and a special youth program as we get closer to the date.
