BY CAR

From New Jersey (via Garden State Parkway):

Take the Garden State Parkway to exit 153 (153A from south) - Route 3 East. Take Route 3 East approx. 2 miles to the Passaic Avenue exit. Bear right at the bottom of the ramp onto Passaic Avenue. Go approx. 1 mile to the 2nd light - Brook Avenue. Make a right turn onto Brook Avenue and go 4 blocks (you will see a train trestle). Young Israel will be on your left before train trestle.

From New Jersey (via New Jersey Turnpike):

Take the New Jersey Turnpike - Western Spur to exit 16W - Route 3 West. Exit at the second right after the 16 W toll plaza to get onto Route 3 West. Take Route 3 approx. 4 miles to the Passaic Avenue exit. Bear right at the bottom of the ramp onto Passaic Avenue. Go approx. 1 mile to the 2nd light - Brook Avenue. Make a right turn onto Brook Avenue and go 4 blocks (you will see a train trestle). Young Israel will be on your left before train trestle.

From New York City (via George Washington Bridge):

Take the George Washington Bridge to Route I-95 South towards the NJ Turnpike. Take the Turnpike to Exit 16W - Route 3 West. Exit at the second right after the 16 W toll plaza to get onto Route 3 West. Take Route 3 approx. 3 miles to the Passaic Avenue exit. Bear right at the bottom of the ramp onto Passaic Avenue. Go approx. 1 mile to the 2nd light - Brook Avenue. Make a right turn onto Brook Avenue and go 4 blocks (you will see a train trestle). Young Israel will be on your left before train trestle.

From New York City (via Lincoln Tunnel):

Take the Lincoln Tunnel to Route 495 West. Take Route 495 West to Route 3 West. Take Route 3 West approx. 6 miles to the Passaic Avenue exit. Bear right at the bottom of the ramp onto Passaic Avenue. Go approx. 1 mile to the 2nd light - Brook Avenue. Make a right turn onto Brook Avenue and go 4 blocks (you will see a train trestle). Young Israel will be on your left before train trestle.

From Upstate New York, Monsey, or the Catskills:

Take the NY State Thruway to exit 14A which is the Garden State Parkway / New Jersey. Follow the directions above from the Garden State Parkway.


BY TRAIN

From Hoboken:

Take the PATH train, NY Waterways ferry, or Hudson-Bergen Light Rail to Hoboken Terminal. At Hoboken, get a ticket for the Main Line Train to Passaic Station (visit NJ Transit for the complete Main Line/Bergen Line schedule). When you get off the train, take the stairway that goes under the tracks to the other side of the station. This will put you on Passaic Ave. Make a left and walk up Passaic Avenue about a half mile. When you get to the 1st light - Brook Avenue - make a left. Walk along Brook Avenue until just before the train trestle. Young Israel will be on your left.

From New York Penn Station, Newark Penn Station, or points south:

From New York Penn Station, Newark Penn Station, or anywhere along the Northeast Corridor or North Jersey Coast Line or any Morris & Essex train that is heading towards Penn Station, you can take the train to the new Secaucus Transfer Station and transfer to the Main Line train to Passaic. When you get off the train, take the stairway that goes under the tracks to the other side of the station. This will put you on Passaic Ave. Make a left and walk up Passaic Avenue about a half mile. When you get to the 1st light - Brook Avenue - make a left. Walk along Brook Avenue until just before the train trestle. Young Israel will be on your left.

From Newark Airport:

Take the AirTrain to Newark Airport Station and connect to the Northeast Corridor or North Jersey Coast Line train towards NYC to Secaucus Transfer Station. Transfer there to the Main Line train to Passaic. When you get off the train, take the stairway that goes under the tracks to the other side of the station. This will put you on Passaic Ave. Make a left and walk up Passaic Avenue about a half mile. When you get to the 1st light - Brook Avenue - make a left. Walk along Brook Avenue until just before the train trestle. Young Israel will be on your left.

Alternatively, take the NJ Transit #62 bus from Newark Airport to Newark Penn Station and follow directions above.

From Suffern (Monsey area):

From Suffern, take the Main Line/Bergen Line train to the Passaic Station. When you get off the train, walk straight ahead down the driveway to Passaic Avenue. Make a left and walk up Passaic Avenue about a half mile. When you get to the 1st light - Brook Avenue - make a left. Walk along Brook Avenue until just before the train trestle. Young Israel will be on your left.


BY BUS

From New York Port Authority:

Take the #190 bus to Passaic Park.

    Note: There are many different routes for the #190 bus (visit NJ Transit for the complete #190 bus schedule) . Make sure to ask the driver if he stops at the corner of Main and Van Houten Avenues. The 190 Express (which runs during rush hours) always stops here and is the fastest bus to take from NYC.

Get off at the corner of Main and Van Houten Avenues (You will see a Valley National Bank across the street). You can catch a 74 bus in front of the Valley National Bank to Brook Ave. ($1.10 - exact change) or you can walk 6 blocks south (0.5 mile) along Main Avenue to the first traffic light - Brook Avenue. Turn right onto Brook and walk under the trestle. The Young Israel will be on your right.

Another option is to take the #190 Bus that runs via Delawana. They run approx. once every two hours during the day and more frequently during rush hour. If you take that bus, it will take you directly to the intersection of Main and Brook Avenue. Then, once you get off the bus, just cross Main Avenue and walk under the trestle to the Young Israel.

From other parts of Passaic/Clifton:

Take the 74 Bus towards Passaic ($1.10 from Passaic or Clifton, $1.70 from Belville or Paterson) and ask the driver to let you off at Brook Avenue. You will see a dog pound and a Mobil gas station. Walk along Brook Avenue under the trestle.The Young Israel will be on your right.
